Ford Explorer (2011)

The much awaited new generation 201Blue Oval1 Ford Explorer has been unveiled for the public view at Blue Oval. Earlier, we introduced you with the fuel economy of this new generation Ford Explorer, however; now there are detailed specks and lot of images that hasn’t been made public earlier. The 2011 Ford Explorer will be offered in three equipment levels, Viz. base, XLT and Limited, and under the hood there will be a new 3.5-litre V6 with 290 HP and 255 lb-ft of torque with 20% more fuel economy than 2010 model.
The other option will be available with Ecoboost 2.0-liter I-4 engine that churns out 237 hp at 5,000 rpm and 250 lb ft of torque. The 2011 Ford Explorer will use a 6-speed automatic on the base version while the XLT and Limited models feature the SelectShift Automatic with steering wheel mounted toggle switches. In the interior, 2001 Explorer makes use of higher quality materials and to cope up with that off road bit, it will be equipped with a new 4WD system and a terrain management, offering driver a choice between four settings on a center console-mounted knob.
Not only is this, but the some of the other unique features include a 2nd generation first-row airbags, SOS post-crash alert system, safety canopy, adaptive cruise control and collision warning with brake support and others. Additionally, the vehicle includes Sony Audio System with HD Radio, an SD card reader and an 8-inch LCD screen with intuitive five-way controls. The standard equipments, however, will feature a 4.2-inch LCD screen, air filtration, media hub, cruise control, the Easy Fuel capless fuel filler system, four 12 volt power points and cargo hooks.
